A simple wedding?

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
I'm slowly discovering that the weddings that happen in movies are very unrealistic. The real ones involve lots of very unromantic paperwork and bureaucratic bullshit. The right people need to be hired and paid for, a location needs to be chosen and paid for, a whole stack of paperwork needs to be brought, copied, filled in and stamped on. If you are both foreign nationals you will need to get all that paperwork translated in your local languages, stamped on, send off and approved and stamped on again. All these people that do the signing, translating and stamping need to be paid as well off course. So I'm from the Netherlands, Chizuru from Japan and we are getting married in the United Kingdom, is there a way we could make this into more paperwork? Yes, I could be modern and choose to adopt her last name. As I have discovered today this poses no problem for the woman, in most countries the woman will receive the man's last name by default, if the man wishes to receive the woman's last name he will have to start complicated legal proceedings. Equal rights for men NOW!

My mate Chris send me this video link. It's a song written by Wes Borg and the Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie. Don't worry, I never heard of them either but the lyrics of this song are dead on for anyone working in the computer support industry. Come on, click here for the sysadmin song, you know you want to ^_=
